Why did you buy or choose this bike?
I bought it to get something compatible with latest equipment like through axles, 29 inch wheels. My Rockrider was 27.5 inch. This probably feels more comfortable off road. It's got a smaller space for the frame bag, also it has a carbon frame and better wheels.
What changes have you made to it?
I got a new seat post, with suspension. I got a new SID Ultimate 3P front fork which is remarkably lighter. The front wheel now has a dynamo which has been a great help with lights and charging. A Surly Moloko handlebar.
What notable rides has this bike done?
I have done the Silk Road Mountain Race twice. Couple of rides in Ladakh, including Manali to Umling La. Also did a set of brevets for my SR in Gwalior.
What electronics or navigation do you use?
I use a Garmin Edge 530. No power meter yet and the dynamo is working well.
What lighting setup do you use?
I have a Sinewave Beacon 2 which is great as it's bright enough for me and has a charging slot too. The rear light is Supernova which blinks, is small and light.
What bags or luggage do you use?
I am using a Decathlon frame bag, which is not perfect but is waterproof and has lots of space. The front is another Decathlon harness for the handlebar with a waterproof bag for my sleeping bag and Aquaquest waterproof bivy bag.

What tools and spares do you carry?
I have a Crankbrothers multitool and a multitool set from Decathlon. Other spares are tubes, pump, some patches, derailleur hanger, chain links and other usual toolkit stuff.
What would you change or upgrade now?
Maybe everything is working fine as a stack now so no changes in mind.
What does this setup do well?
The setup is to be comfortable over long distances off road and it works very well.
What would make you upgrade the frame or bike?
Nothing really about the bike. Maybe I could get a new frame in the future but not now.
